The Glasgow Conservation Trust West was established in 1990 as a registered charity with a remit to conserve the historic West End of Glasgow. The offices of the Trust were located in Hillhead Baptist Church, a B-listed building designed by T L Watson in 1883 which stands on the corner of Cranworth and Cresswell Streets just off Byres Road.
The Trust established itself as an important centre for technical and historical research, promoting an interest in and awareness of the West End's architectural heritage with the intention of translating that interest into the active promotion of better maintenance for local buildings and streetscapes.
Since the closure of the Trust on 31 March 2006, this valuable archive has been broken up, with much of the material being gifted to the University of Glasgow Archive Service.
